About the partnership

Nigeria
Soy and Oil Seeds
Status:
Active

This partnership aims to locally source high volumes of aflatoxin-free groundnuts from smallholder farmers, through improving productivity and agronomic practices. The business champion faces challenges in terms of the cost of production involved in non-processing activities like dehulling and grading, which when undertaken professionally by intermediary companies, are activities that can create more jobs. Additionally, this can also drive the down cost of dehulled and graded groundnuts, leading to better and affordable products for BoP consumers in Nigeria.

About the business champion

Ladipo & Lawani (L&L) Foods Nigeria Limited is a small-scale processing company based in Lagos. L&L currently processes groundnuts into packaged and branded snacks - Mr. Ekpa (www.mrekpa.com), targeting consumers in the peri-urban and urban areas. L&L was founded in 2014 by Ladipo Lawani, a young entrepreneur who was recognized by Forbes in 2018 as one of Africa's under 30 young and promising entrepreneurs, amongst others for his ambition of bringing back the groundnut pyramids and ensuring that Nigerian groundnuts are aflatoxin free.
