The business idea of NEBNOOMA is to transform more than 14,000 tons of paddy rice by 2023 and develop a variety of rice-based products for BoP consumers in close collaboration with 12,000 smallholder farmers, including 4,000 women and 8,000 youth. In this way Nebnooma wants to improve income for different actors in the value chain, make nutritious products accessible to BoP consumers, and integrate a wide variety of actors in the broader rice value chain.

About the business champion

NEBNOOMA is a rice mill with a processing capacity of 41.5 tonnes of paddy rice per day. The company currently collects about 1,000 tons per year from smallholder farmers and offers consumers white rice of the TS2 and Orylux variety packaged in 20 kg, 25 kg and 50 kg packages under the label “AMIR Rice”. It is based in the industrial zone of Bobo-Dioulasso, in Burkina Faso.

Improve the quality, distribution and sales of (parboiled) rice products for low income consumers

Train farmers and other actors on good agronomic and processing practices
Improve (contractual) relationships between different actors in the value chain
Improve access to finance for farmers through financial literacy training and finance brokering
