In Ethiopia, only 4.2% of breastfed children of 6–23 months of age have a minimum acceptable diet. To address the complex challenges of malnutrition with children in a sustainable way, public and private sector partnerships are required. The aim of this partnership with East African Tiger Brands Industry (EATBI) is to develop a nutritious consumer food product, especially focusing on malnutrition with children. The product development will be based on the current production of Corn Soy Blend (CSB) that the company is producing for the relief markets. Next to product development and marketing & distribution to BoP markets, this partnership will also focus on local sourcing of raw materials with smallholder farmers.
