About the partnership

Ethiopia
Staple Crops
Status:
Stopped

The aim of this partnership is to develop a nutritious consumer food product, especially focused on reducing malnutrition in children. In Ethiopia, only 4.2% of breastfed children aged 6–23 months have a minimum acceptable diet.

The collaboration between EATBI and 2SCALE will focus on new product development, based on the current production of Corn Soy Blend (CSB) that the company is producing for relief markets. Next to product development and marketing & distribution to Base of Pyramid markets, this partnership will also focus on local sourcing of raw materials from smallholder farmers, mostly focusing on maize.

About the business champion

East African Tiger Brands Industry PLC (EATBI) is a food processing company. Though this company is an independently registered private company, it can also be refereed to as a sister (subsidiary) company that is further accountable to its big umbrella company known as East African Holdings S.C.
