The aim of this partnership is to develop a nutritious consumer food product, especially focused on reducing malnutrition in children. In Ethiopia, only 4.2% of breastfed children aged 6–23 months have a minimum acceptable diet. To address the complex challenges of malnutrition in children in a sustainable way, public and private sector partnerships are required. The collaboration between EATBI and 2SCALE will focus first on new product development, based on the current production of Corn Soy Blend (CSB) that the company is producing for relief markets. Next to product development and marketing & distribution to BoP markets, this partnership will also focus on local sourcing of raw materials from smallholder farmers, mostly focusing on maize.
