About the partnership

Ghana
Staple Crops
Status:
Active

The goal of this partnership is to increase the availability of safe and nutritious maize-based products for consumers in Ghana and Burkina Faso. Blends of maize and other nutrient-dense crops such as soya or groundnut will be developed and marketed to reach low-income consumers in both countries.

2SCALE will support KEDAN in building expertise to develop a formidable production base for the production of quality maize in volumes to meet its needs. Additionally, this partnership aims to develop affordable and nutritious maize products to reach the Base of Pyramid consumers.

About the business champion

KEDAN is an SME that was incorporated in August 2014. It is located in the upper west region of Ghana and is engaged in the production of maize grits, flour, and maize bran. Guinness Ghana limited is the main off-taker of their grits. While over 90% of the flour is sold in cross-border trade between Ghana and Burkina Fasso, the maize bran is off-taken by poultry and other animal feed producers.
