About the partnership

Nigeria
Staple Crops

The two companies who are the business champions to this partnership, Nalmaco and Adefunke Desh, are looking to empower smallholder farmers to produce high quality white sorghum for supply to a more structured market and to trigger an increased demand for white sorghum products with Nigerian households.  In this partnership, we will work on implementing this business idea by empowering 20,000 smallholder farmers to work on agriculture as a business and access structured markets through connections with large companies like Nestlé.

About the business champion
Nalmaco Limited and Adefunke Desh Varieties Limited are both large scale grain aggregators based in northern Nigeria. Both source high quality white sorghum from smallholder farmers and add value by grading and cleaning it before supplying to large scale processing companies such as Nestlé and Honeywell. Their objective is to meet all their demand (about 20,000 tons/year) for quality sorghum.
