About the partnership

Soybean POs supported by 2SCALE were progressively linked to small local processors, like CTAE and women processors producing soy-products for street vendors and local restaurants. These processors have become the drivers of the partnership, which aims to develop markets of soy-based products, as nutritious substitutes to meat and innovative BoP food-products (e.g., goussi). Women being key in this partnership (as processors, farmers and retailers), the partnership mainstreams gender throughout its interventions.

Achievements
Promote the use of Rhizobium inoculant by farmers
Strengthen linkages and facilitate contracting and coordination among POs, processors and women processing groups
Facilitate access to finance for processors and farmers
Pilot and roll-out BoP marketing plans for soy-goussi and soy-cheese
Targets:
The partnership aims to involve 8,000 smallholder farmers (3,000 women), and 100 SMEs (80 female-headed) in the soy industry.
Market Segments:
Soy-based products (kebabs, cheese, milk, oil) for local and urban markets. Soy-goussi for BoP consumers.
