A propos du partenariat

This partnership builds on existing vegetable farmer organizations that seek to produce more quality vegetables and ensure revenue increases for their members (mainly women and young people). The strategy consists of capturing market opportunities for the supply of quality tomato (year-round) and onion (lean season Sept-Dec), and complementing this offer with other vegetable crops.

Achievements

Introduce new technologies and practices in learning plots and facilitate field days.

Organize technical training programs in GAPs.

Set up an SSP scheme in collaboration with CropLife.

Broker relations between clusters and inputs/small equipment suppliers, and facilitate bulk procurement of inputs.

Support financial institutions to customize financial services for women and young vegetable growers.

Facilitate access of POs to market information.

Prospect new market opportunities and facilitate connections, including through formal contracts.

Strengthen local networks (clusters), and facilitate inter-cluster exchanges on innovations and business linkages.

Targets:

Involve 2,500 smallholder farmers (1,000 women) and 30 small and medium enterprises of which 15 female-headed.
